Improving the quality of service for the individual reservist and the nation.
The Reserve Leadership Collective is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to advancing education, providing professional development, fostering retention, and promoting cohesive collaboration and networking among Reserve Officers. We recognize the challenges inherent to service and leadership within the Reserve Component and aim to facilitate successful career development and cultivate longevity of the specialized skills that exist within the Reserve Component.
This group is truly one of the most amazing and synergistic things to occur in my 28-year career. I could have used this resource so many different times when I didn't understand something, or couldn't find something and didn't know who to ask or where to look.
It’s filled knowledge gaps I didn’t even know I had. For example, couple days ago someone asked about adjusting flights and DTS for leave right after ADOS or other duty. I didn’t even know that was a thing, tbh. Second, related to first, it fills my knowledge gaps about Reserve career paths and options. The Reserves are wide open as far as careers go, which is why our career paths are so varied. This group has given me a better sense of what’s out there. Good for me, good for my Reserve Marines. Thanks to the Admins for running this ship. It really is a great resource.
I have helped facilitate so many people needing and finding new BICs. from IRR, SMCR, IMA and even a couple DAPs, this place has helped with that networking and BIC finding as well as multiple deployments. I literally found someone to fill one of MLG’s mandatory IAs here.
We have also had a lot of reserve policy board discussions and great talking points here. I refined a couple RPB submittals, conducted attrition reduction polling and research, and got great feedback for RRRTF discussions.
At the last conference, we had great discussion and insight into attrition reduction across the force. With the amount of commanders, former commanders, and future commanders here, we really dug into retention issues and how to overcome.
This group has been amazing! As someone who joined the reserves right as COVID started it has helped me expand my network and I’ve learned so much great information that I can pass along to my Marines. Anytime time I meet another Reservist, I always ask if they know about this group.
I received mentorship on how to write a letter to the board for resident PME and was selected!
When I was told two weeks before my report date there was no money in the reserve PME budget to send me to resident EWS, this group connected me to the right people at MFR to solve the issue. I’ve help Marines in my unit and other units find PFT/CFT opportunities. This group has been essential on connecting with those who have already navigated the ins and outs of reserve life. My only wish is that the TBS classes for reservists would bring new reserve officers immediately into this group for mentorship.
As an AR officer this group has provided a great forum to gather feedback and input from the SMCR/IMA population, to include sending out information for working groups revising MCOs (MCRAMM / RAID) that need a drilling reserve perspective.
Being able to share the trip reports and UNCLASS briefs following conferences with the SMCR/IMA population from all corners has been a benefit for all - TOTAL FORCE INTEGRATION!
Just knowing there are other irrational patriots is good for morale… or at least to know I'm not the craziest person out there. Also, lots of opportunities are posted here I might not otherwise catch.
Very thankful for all the knowledge and experience shared in this group. I’ve learned a lot for current issues and have saved info for future things. Really glad we can easily reference past posts here too!
I found an excellent billet here, recruited others to fill billets at a prior unit, and found a CSC hotfill opportunity that was timely for my personal situation.
We look forward to expanding our services and currently administer a lively, professional discussion group on Facebook. Restricted and unrestricted officers are welcome to join, please answer the membership questions. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1ACDVsf5fT/

Join us April 26-27, 2026 in Washington DC for the third annual Reserve Leadership Symposium generously hosted by the Marine Corps Association directly preceding Modern Day Marine! Registration goes live at the end of January!
